My devotional time today was wonderful!!! It was all God inspired.
As I jumped in my car to get something to eat in between classes I heard "Great Is Your Mercy" by Donnie McClurkin. Initially I got upset because I was only to hear just the last woman sing her part. My heart and soul melted at the words
Great is Your mercy towards me
Your loving kindness towards me
Your tender mercies I see
Day after day
Forever faithful towards me
Always providing for me
Great is Your mercies towards me
Great is your grace
Ahh, my heart melts even now.
Anyways, I began to feel bad because all I could think about was the fact that I had missed out on a chance to worship the to whole song. Then God whispered His sweet nothing into my ear, "Why can't this little moment of devotion be enough for you? It's enough for Me."
Then my mind went to a quote by Howard Thurman
"The time most precious for the Master was at close of day. This was the time for the long breath, when all the fragments left by the commonplace, all the little hurts and big aches, came to rest; when the mind could be free of the immediate demand, and voices that had been stilled by the long day's work could once more be heard; when there could be the deep sharing of innermost secrets and the laying bare of heart and mind--yes, the time most precious for him was at close of day."
I repented and took that deep breath that Thurman spoke of . This was my devotional time with the Lord. In this small block of time in between classes God had allowed me to hear the voices that had been stilled by the long days work...and it rested my soul. It gave me peace, and the strength I needed to continue and finish my day. God had rejuvinated me in that one split second!
So I say to you, in between work, school, family, church, etc. God is able to speak to us; even in that tiny block of time in between stop lights. If we would just CALM DOWN, LISTEN, ACCEPT what God is doing, He will make time for devotion, even when we feel like we can't.
After that I felt great. I felt like I could go on a little further with my day, and I was able to finish it. God is good and Great is God's mercy towards me!
